The Easter Fishing Celebration is one of Lužnica’s best-known traditions, bringing visitors together on the Sunday after Easter in the beautiful setting of the castle, parkland and Lake Lužnica. It is inspired by the Gospel account of the risen Christ meeting his disciples on the Sea of Tiberias and the miraculous catch of fish after the Resurrection.

The programme traditionally begins with Holy Mass, followed by a procession to the lake, a special ceremony and symbolic fishing. Designed for the whole family, the event combines spiritual activities with time together in nature, activities for children, the opportunity to tour the castle and a chance to enjoy Lužnica’s unique atmosphere.

The rose holds a special place at Lužnica: it is the emblem of Marijin dvor, the spiritual centre named after the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose statue stands in the parkland.

As the parkland comes into its full spring glory, visitors can enjoy themed walks, discover the beauty and distinctive features of the rose garden, and find inspiration for their own gardens. The programme offers a range of activities devoted to roses and flowers, from creative workshops and presentations to rose plants for sale and outdoor musical gatherings.

A Castle of Roses brings together the beauty of nature, spirituality and Lužnica’s heritage, reflecting its special connection with Mary and the symbolism of the rose.

This special day brings together families, friends, pilgrims, lovers of culture and heritage, and everyone who would like to discover Lužnica and experience its distinctive atmosphere.

The programme begins with a solemn celebration of the Eucharist in front of the castle. Throughout the day, visitors can explore the historic interiors on guided tours and discover Lužnica’s life and heritage through a variety of workshops. Baroque calligraphy, tea with the Sisters of Charity, storytelling, traditional skills and musical moments are just some of the activities that offer a personal, memorable introduction to the castle.

The parkland hosts children’s activities, games and social gatherings throughout the day. A particular highlight is the Royal Horse Ball, bringing the beauty of horses, elegance and a touch of bygone times to the grounds. With a shared lunch and other activities, Open Day becomes a celebration of joy and togetherness for all generations.

The day ends with a candlelit Way of Light through the parkland and along the Stations of the Cross to the statue of Our Lady in front of the castle. Through prayer, song and candlelight, visitors bring to a close a day devoted to encounter, faith, heritage and community.

St Hubert’s Day is Lužnica’s traditional autumn event dedicated to St Hubert, the patron saint of hunters and guardian of nature. In the unique setting of the castle and parkland, spirituality, hunting traditions, history and a love of nature come together.

The programme begins with a solemn celebration of the Eucharist and a blessing of hunters, followed by presentations of hunting associations, hunting dogs and a rich hunting heritage. Highlights include falconers with their birds of prey, horse riders and costumed portrayals of life and hunting at historic courts.

St Hubert’s Day at Lužnica offers visitors an unusual blend of tradition, cultural heritage and nature, with time to gather together and enjoy a special hunters’ lunch.

During Advent, Lužnica glows with thousands of Christmas lights, creating an enchanting setting for a walk, a gathering and a moment to prepare your heart for Christmas.

At the heart of the Advent story is the light of Christ’s birth: a light that brings hope, peace and joy. Visitors can walk along the illuminated parkland paths, explore the castle, enjoy homemade Advent treats and seasonal activities, and find special gifts for loved ones. The Advent programme also includes Castle by Candlelight, when hundreds of candles give the historic castle a special glow.

Castle by Candlelight is one of Lužnica’s most enchanting events. On the feast of St Lucy, 13 December, it transforms the castle into a place of light, music and togetherness. Illuminated by hundreds of candles and decorated with Christmas arrangements, the castle reveals a special, almost fairytale beauty in the weeks before Christmas.

Visitors can enjoy arts and cultural performances, concerts, exhibitions and other seasonal activities, take a guided tour of the castle, and discover traditional crafts, local produce and handmade creations.
